All Praise to Thee Eternal Lord

All Praise to Thee Eternal Lord
Words: Martin Luther, 1524, Chad Gray, 2017. Music: Chad Gray, 2017 ©2017 Rough Harbor Music

All praise to Thee, Eternal Lord
Clothed in a garb of flesh and blood,
Choosing a manger for Thy throne,
While kings and worlds are Thine alone

Once did the skies before Thee bow,
A virgin’s arms contain Thee now;
While angels who in Thee rejoice
In wonder hear Thine infant voice

CHORUS:
O—holy night
O—weary world
O—thrill of hope

O little Child here as our Guest,
That weary ones in Thee may rest;
Forlorn and lonely is Thy birth,
That Heav’n may reign throughout the earth

Thou camest in the darkest night
To bring us to Thy kingdom bright,
To make us each the Father’s heir,
Daughters and sons, crowned with Thee there

For the Beauty of the Earth

For the Beauty of the Earth
Words by Folliott Sandford Pierpoint, 1863, Music by Conrad Kocher, arr Ben Parks & Cameron Gray © 018 Rough Harbor Music

For the beauty of the earth,
For the glory of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies

For the beauty of each hour
Of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale and tree and flower,
Sun and moon and stars of light

CHORUS:
Lord of all, to Thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise!

For the joy of ear and eye,
For the heart and mind’s delight,
For the mystic harmony
Linking sense and sound to sight

For the joy of human love,
Brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth and friends above,
For all thoughts gentle and mild

For Thyself, best Gift Divine
To the world so freely given,
For that great, great love of Thine
Peace on earth and joy in heaven

Devotional Thoughts:
God gives us good things to tell us that He loves us. When we realize how much God loves us, it moves our hearts to grateful praise—we say, or sing, or even shout, “Thank you, God!”

But giving thanks to God is harder than we’d like to admit. The busyness, bustle, and distractions of life make it easy to forget to be grateful. Selfishness and discontent also make us blind to the good gifts God gives to us every day. The truth is, we are much better at coming up with a list of things we want than a list of things we are grateful for.

That’s why it is good to take time to practice. This song helps us remember God’s good gifts, and helps us practice saying, “Thank you, God!”

Verse 1 and 2:
Ever since you were born God has surrounded you with wonderful things as a way of telling you that He loves you. Right now, look around at the beauty of the earth, and the glory of the sky. Think about the different ways beauty comes out at different times of the day and night. Look at the hills and fields, the trees and flowers, the sun, moon and stars. What other things in nature make you feel awe or delight? Let’s thank God for His good gifts.

Sing:
For the beauty of the earth,
For the glory of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies;

For the beauty of each hour
Of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale and tree and flower,
Sun and moon and stars of light

Lord of all, to Thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise!

Verse 3:
Think about the miracle that you can hear and see, and that your heart and mind can delight in all the beauty around you! Isn’t it amazing that you can think and understand and learn? God gave you those things to tell you He loves you. Let’s thank God for His good gifts.

Sing:
For the joy of ear and eye,
For the heart and mind’s delight,
For the mystic harmony
Linking sense and sound to sight;
Lord of all, to Thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise!

Verse 4:
God gave us families and friends to remind us that He loves us. Have you ever felt loved by your mom or dad or brother or sister? Have you ever looked forward to spending time with a friend? The love we feel for and from people is a gift from God. Let’s thank God for His good gifts.

For the joy of human love,
Brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth and friends above,
For all thoughts gentle and mild;
Lord of all, to Thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise!

Verse 5:
But out of all the good gifts God gives us, the very best gift is Jesus. You could say all the other gifts fit inside the one big gift of Jesus. In Jesus we find all the beauty of creation (Col 1:16-17), all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Col 2:3), and all the joy of family and friendship (John 1:12; Eph 2:19). More than that, Jesus takes away all our sin, gives us all His goodness, and fills us with His Spirit to make us more like Him. Jesus is the biggest, widest, longest, highest and deepest way God could say, “I love you!!” (John 3:16; Eph 3:16-19).

Sing:
For Thyself, best Gift Divine
To the world so freely given,
For that great, great love of Thine
Peace on earth and joy in heaven;
Lord of all, to Thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise!

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow!
Praise Him, all creatures here below!
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host!
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost!
Amen.

Standing On the Promises Of God

Standing On the Promises Of God
©2018 Rough Harbor Music. Words by Russel Kelso Carter (1886) & Cameron Gray (2018). Music by Cameron Gray

Standing on the promises of Christ my King
Mountains will bow and the stones will sing
Let every nation their praises bring
Standing on the promises of God

Standing on the promises He spoke for me
Washed by His blood shed on Calvary
His tomb is empty and I am free
Standing on the promises of God

CHORUS:
Standing, O I am standing
Standing and I shall not be moved
Standing, O I am standing
Standing on the promises of God

Standing on the promises that cannot fail
Though storms of sin and fears assail
By the power of His Word I shall prevail
Standing on the promises of God

BRIDGE:
Oh, sweeter than honey
More precious than gold, pure gold
Oh, steadfast foundation
Standing on the solid rock of the Living Word

Standing on the promise of the Risen Lord
Come sons and daughters and weep no more
With all of Creation in one accord
Standing on the promises of God

My God, my God,
Why have you forsaken me?
My God, my God,
Darkness overtaking me
My God, my God,
Dried up like shards of clay,
Poured out in tears by night,
Melted like wax by day

My God, my God,
Calling from the lion’s mouth,
My God, my God,
Scoffers mock and thieves surround,
My God, my God,
Saints before have trusted You,
But You have left me here,
And I am piercéd through

Oh God, my God, my—

My God, my God,
Why are You so far from me?
My God, my God,
Why have You abandoned me?
My God, my God,
You raised me from my mother’s womb
Now raise me up again,
Up from my lonesome tomb

Oh God, my God, my God, my God, my God.

God Made Low

God Made Low
Music and words by Jason Hansen and Bob Kauflin. © 2014 Sovereign Grace Praise. CCLI Song #7031872

Prophets promised long ago
A King would come to bring us hope
And now a virgin bears a son
The time to save the world has come

Humble shepherds run in haste
To see the One the angels praised
In cattle stall they find a girl
Who holds the hope of all the world

CHORUS
Emmanuel has come to us
The Christ is born, Hallelujah!
Our God made low to raise us up
Emmanuel, has come to us

As He sleeps upon the hay
He holds the moon and stars in place
Though born an infant He remains
The sovereign God of endless days

For all our sins one day He’ll die
To make us sons of God on high
Let every heart prepare Him room
The promises have all come true

How Firm A Foundation

How Firm A Foundation
Author Unknown. Words & Music: Public Domain

How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord
Is laid for your faith in His excellent Word
What more can He say than to you He hath said
To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled

Fear not, I am with thee; oh be not dismayed
For I am thy God and will still give thee aid
I’ll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand
Upheld by My righteous, omnipotent hand

When through the deep waters I call thee to go
The rivers of sorrow shall not overflow
For I will be with thee, thy troubles to bless
And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress

When through fiery trials thy pathways shall lie
My grace all sufficient shall be thy supply
The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
Thy dross to consume and thy gold to refine

The soul that on Jesus has leaned for repose
I will not, I will not desert to its foes
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake
I’ll never, no never, no never forsake

No Longer Slaves

No Longer Slaves
©2014 Bethel Music Publishing. Words & Music by Brian Johnson, Joel Case, Jonathan David Helser. CCLI Song #7030123

You unravel me with a melody
You surround me with a song
Of deliverance from my enemies
Till all my fears are gone

Chorus:
I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God

From my Mother’s womb
You have chosen me
Love has called my name
I’ve been born again into Your family
Your blood flows through my veins

Bridge
I am surrounded
By the arms of the Father
I am surrounded
By songs of deliverance
We’ve been liberated
From all our bondage
We are sons and daughters
Let us sing of our freedom!

You split the sea so I could walk right through it
My fears are drowned in perfect love
You rescued me and I will stand and sing
I am a child of God

The Lion And The Lamb

The Lion And The Lamb
Words & Music: Brenton Brown, Brian Johnson, Leeland Mooring © 2015 Meaux Mercy. CCLI Song #7038281

He’s coming on the clouds
Kings and kingdoms will bow down
And every chain will break
As broken hearts declare His praise
For who can stop the Lord almighty

CHORUS:
Our God is the Lion
The Lion of Judah
He’s roaring with power
And fighting our battles
And every knee will bow before Him
Our God is the Lamb
The Lamb that was slain
For the sin of the world
His blood breaks the chains
And every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb
Oh every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb

So open up the gates
Make way before the King of kings
Our God who comes to save
Is here to set the captives free
For who can stop the Lord almighty

BRIDGE:
Who can stop the Lord almighty
Who can stop the Lord (almighty)

Praise To the Lord the Almighty

Praise To the Lord the Almighty
Public Domain. Words: Joachim Neander, 1680. Music: Erneuerten Gesangbuch, 1665

Praise to the Lord,
The Almighty, the king of creation!
O my soul, praise Him,
For He is thy health and salvation!
All ye who hear,
Now to His temple draw near;
Praise Him in glad adoration.

Praise to the Lord,
Who o’er all things so wondrously reigneth,
Shelters thee under His wings,
Yea, so gently sustaineth!
Hast thou not seen
How all thy longings hath been
Granted in what He ordaineth?

Praise to the Lord,
Who doth prosper thy work and defend thee;
Surely His goodness
And mercy here daily attend thee.
Ponder anew
What the Almighty can do,
If with His love He befriend thee.

Praise to the Lord,
O let all that is in me adore Him!
All that hath life and breath,
Come now with praises before Him.
Let the Amen sound from His people again,
Gladly for aye we adore Him.

Glorious Name

Glorious Name

You are the one true God over all the earth
Our King, and the Father’s love
Who became our sin to save and to overcome
By Your glorious Name
By Your glorious Name

CHORUS:
For You are the Lord, the Lord God so merciful
You are the Lord, You’re abounding in lovingkindness
You are the Lord, full of grace and full of truth
Oh You never change, Oh, what a glorious Name

You are the risen Son, high above the earth
Our Lord, the victorious One,
Let the nations bring you praise,
Let the nations come
To Your glorious Name
Oh Your glorious Name
(CHORUS)

BRIDGE:
There’s no one like You, oh no one like You
So great and marvelous, we cry out
Show us Your glory, only Your glory
You’re great and glorious
