Rejoice, Rejoice
Words & Music: Cameron Gray, based on lyrics by Joseph Hart, (Gadsby, 725 & 787), c. 1768.

Come, come away with me
In meditations fair,
Let us to Golgotha go
And find my Savior there;
Let me in His wounded side
Wash away my shame,
And in that fountain opened wide
Lose all my guilty stain.

Rise up and rejoice
Rise up and rejoice
Rise up and rejoice
Rise up and rejoice
Lift up and sing;
With my heart and my voice
To Jesus my King

Come, come away with me,
Leave your sorrows behind;
Don’t you know that your life is hid
In the righteousness of Christ?
O the riches of His grace,
Enough to go around;
For who of mercy should despair
Since I have mercy found?

Ransomed Song
Words: Cameron Gray, 2007 (based on a hymn by James Allen & William Batty, Gadsby 952, c. 1786). Music: Cameron Gray. ©2007 Rough Harbor Music

Unite our hearts in Thee, dear Lamb,
Thy blood has made us one,
To love and praise Thy gracious Name
Gathered around Thy throne,
Gathered around Thy throne.

Here manifest Thyself in peace,
Thy tender mercies show,
Come breathe on us Thy word of grace,
Move us each to love,
Move us each to love.

Now let each broken, blood-bought soul rejoice,
Now let us hymn our risen Christ,
Now let each nation, color, tongue and tribe
Our ransomed song unite,
Our ransomed song unite.

Unite our hearts in Thee, dear Lamb,
Thy blood has made us one,
To love and praise Thy gracious Name
Gathered around Thy throne,

All Singing
Holy, Holy, Holy
Holy, Holy, Holy
Worthy is the Lamb to receive glory

Welcome To The World
©2009 Words & Music by Cameron Gray

Welcome to the world,
Bouncing baby girl
We met you on a rainy afternoon,
We love your dad and mom
And now that you come along
We know that we can’t help but love you too

Welcome to the world,
Beautiful little girl,
Bringing to us so much love and joy,
And every single day
Gonna hope and wish and pray
That you grow up feeling what we feel today

Singing la la-la la-la

Welcome to the world
Beautiful bouncing baby girl
We met you on a rainy afternoon
But here inside our heart,
The clouds all broke apart
And now everything is bright and clean and new

Special thanks to Johnny C for the piano and mixing expertise, Papa Will for adding a little violin for his daughter’s song, Mellie, Nate & Sarah, Matt & Erika, Barbara, Richard, and Wes for the voices, snaps, hand claps and barely-stifled laughter. And most of all thanks to Will & Carolyn for giving us little Mia, definitely someone worth singing about!

You Are More Faithful
©2009 Rough Harbor Music. Words & Music: Cameron Gray, 2009

You are more faithful
Than a sea bringing waves to the shore,
Stars in the heavens,
Your mercies outnumber them all.

Forever faithful,
Your mercies are new every day,
Sunrise to sunrise,
Boundless horizons of grace.

CHORUS:
Alleluia! Alleluia!
The LORD, He is the Faithful One,
To Him all praises bring;
Alleluia! Alleluia!
I lift my voice to sing
I lift my voice to sing
(In the shelter of Your wing)

You are more faithful,
Faithful and mighty to save,
Calling Your people,
We enter Your courts singing praise.

(Repeat Chorus)

Notes
These lyrics were written over a few days at a run-down monastery built into the side of a mountain above Big Sur, California. The monastery overlooks a huge expanse of California coastline, with ocean and sky stretching as far as the eye can see. All day long the green-blue sea rolls in waves to the rocky shore. Each night thousands of stars brighten the ink sky. Every dawn unveils the vast grandeur once again. An ocean brings waves to the shore, thousands each day, for millennia… His faithfulness will outlast it. Countless stars dusting and spinning through a million milky ways… His kindnesses outnumber them. In all their immensity, only limited reflections of their Creator.

One More Try

cut my wrist
breaking promises
praying Jesus forgets
what he don’t forgive
now when I look at you
and you’re looking away
feel that tide that turns
my night to day

let’s give it one more try

all I know
is written on my hands
written with a stone
pressed up against my skin
I can’t forget your face
I can’t forget your touch
knowing you real name
never meant so much

let’s give it one more try

they won’t know my name
in a hundred years
they won’t know my face
or these hopes and fears
but in the here and now
down in the bend and bring
we remember
everything

let’s give it one more try

In You Alone
©2007 Rough Harbor Music. Words & Music by Cameron Gray.

I will find rest for my soul
In you alone, in you alone;
All of my hope and my home
In you alone, in you alone.
There is a river whose streams
Make glad my soul, make glad my soul;
Draw me to drink of it deep,
In you alone, in you alone.

Love me in all of my shame,
In you alone, in you alone;
Wed me, and give me your name,
In you alone, in you alone.
Give me your promise so true
A heart of stone, a heart of stone,
Couldn’t help but fall in love with you,
With you alone, with you alone.

I will find rest for my soul,
All of my hope and my home;
There is a river whose streams
Draw me to drink of it deep;
Love me in all of shame,
Wed me and give me your name;
Give me your promise so true
Can’t help but fall in love with you.

I will find rest for my soul
In you alone, in you alone.

Hearts & Diamonds

sky falling down
dark at the edge of town
measuring wisdom by the mile
never enough
using up that love
crying, trying to make it stay
don’t make it bad, don’t be so sad, darlin please,
we ought to know better by now

hearts and diamonds
lost in a wonderland
hearts and diamonds for you

give ’til it aches
bending until you break
spending all those years waiting
storms that come riding
riding a wicked wind
I feel them coming before they hit
out of that wild blue yonder, such a long way to wander
when I’m all alone you’re what keeps me hanging on

hearts and diamonds
lost in a wonderland
hearts and diamonds for you

wait for it son, hearts and diamonds
ever since I was a young man
making promises I never dreamed I’d break
now I’m lost inside you
now I’m lost inside you

hearts and diamonds
lost in a wonderland
hearts and diamonds for you

Sweet Comfort
Words & Music by Cameron Gray. © 2009 Rough Harbor Music

Oh sweet comfort, can I call you my own?
Will you let me lay my aching head on your breastbone?
Can I crawl inside your arms and make myself a home?
Oh sweet comfort, come for me.

Come on, sweet comfort, won’t you pick up the phone?
Tonight I’m broke and drunk and sad and sleeping all alone
Can I lay with you when all my other lovers go?
Oh sweet comfort, come for me.

Come on, dark night, lay your skin over me
Come on, bright dawn, break your fist across my cheek
When I’m sure I’ve broken every promise left to break
Oh sweet comfort, come for me.

Late at night, totally sick with no voice. Recorded on iFriend within 10 minutes of writing it.

Thy Love & Thy Power
©2005 Rough Harbor Music. Words & Music: Cameron Gray.

O, Lamb of God, for sinners slain,
I read my pardon in Thy wounds,
In chapters flowing from Thy veins.
Love and power prevailing for me,
O, Thy mercy and and Thy justice—
Perfectly met upon that tree.

Alleluia, I believe—
Thy love and Thy power prevailing for me,
Thy love and Thy power prevailing for me,
Prevailing for me, prevailing for me.

Withhold Thy grace and I shall die,
My best efforts all are vain,
Justly condemned, both out and in;
Love and power prevailing for me,
O my Hope, Thy promise mine—
In Thee I rest forever free.

Rock Of Ages (Gray)

Rock of Ages
Words: Augustus Toplady (Chorus by Cameron Gray); Music: Cameron Gray. ©2005 Rough Harbor Music.

Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee;
Let the water and the blood
From Thy riven side which flowed,
Be for sin the double cure,
Cleanse me from its guilt and power.

Not the labors of my hands
Can fulfill Thy law’s demands;
Could my zeal no respite know,
Could my tears forever flow,
All for sin could not atone;
Thou must save, and Thou alone

Rock of Ages, grace enough.

Nothing in my hand I bring,
Simply to Thy cross I cling;
Naked come to Thee for dress,
Helpless look to Thee for grace;
Foul I to the fountain fly,
Wash me, Savior, or I die.
