A Refuge Strong And Sure (Psalter 46)

A Refuge Strong And Sure (Psalter 46)
Words: Psalter 46, God Is Our Refuge And Our Strength, arr Cameron Gray, 2015. Music: Cameron Gray ©2015 Rough Harbor Music

Be still and know that I am God
O’er all exalted high,
The subject nations of the earth
My Name shall magnify;
The Lord of Hosts is on our side,
Our safety to secure,
The God of Jacob is for us
A refuge strong and sure

REFRAIN:
I will be still,
I will be still

God is our refuge and our strength,
Our ever-present aid,
And therefore though the earth remove
We will not be afraid;
Though hills amidst the seas be cast,
Though foaming waters roar,
Yea, though the mighty billows shake
The mountains on the shore
(REFRAIN)

The nations raged, the kingdoms moved,
But when His voice was heard,
The troubled earth was stilled to peace,
Before His mighty word;
The Lord of Hosts is on our side,
Our safety to secure,
The God of Jacob is for us
A refuge strong and sure

The Lord of Hosts is on our side
Our safety to secure
The God of Jacob is for us
A refuge strong and sure
(REFRAIN)

—–

A river flows whose steams make glad
The city of our God,
The holy place wherein the Lord
Most high has His abode;
Since God is in the midst of her
Unmoved her walls shall stand,
For God will be her early help
When trouble is at hand

Psalm 46

Even In This Place

Even In This Place
Words & Music by Cameron Gray. ©2015 Rough Harbor Music

Where the stone breaks the plow,
Where the thorn chokes the wheat,
Where the sweat burns my brow,
Where there’s wolves among the sheep

PRE-CHORUS:
Even in this place,
Even in this place—

CHORUS A:
Our God is in this place,
Our God is in this place,
Emmanuel with the saints
Our God is here,
Even in this place.

In darkness deep, where sorrows low
Stack like stones ‘neath my head
Your Promise keeps where’re I go
A Kingdom calling in the wilderness
(PRE-CHORUS & CHORUS A)

CHORUS B:
Our God is in this place,
Our God is in this place,
Spirit, awaken the saints
Groaning creation awaits—

BRIDGE:
Daughters and sons bringing Your kingdom come,
Hope ringing true through the work that they do,
Righteousness reigns as they walk in Your way,
A City made glad will shout out on that Day—
(CHORUS)

Gen 28:10-17; Gen 3:17; Matt 13:7; Matt 7:15; Isaiah 7:14; Matt 1:23; Prov 11:10; Phil 2:12; 1 Peter 2:9; John 4:23-24; Matt 12:6; Eph 2:21; Rev 21:3; Psalm 46:4

A Work Song.
Christians are in the same situation as everybody: Our work is difficult and broken and frustrating—the same as everyone else. But with one huge difference—we are actually part of God’s solution to the brokenness of work.

One day He will return and make all things new, including work. But until that day comes, He has chosen to put His Spirit in us and send us out to sweat and to groan and to work alongside our neighbors. By His Spirit, we bring His presence with us into our broken workplaces, where He works in us and through us to multiply His goodness and to bear fruit for His kingdom.

Emmanuel means God With Us—even in the wilderness of our work.

May the Mind of Christ, My Savior

May the Mind of Christ, My Savior
Public Domain. Words: Kate Wilkinson (vs 2, Cameron Gray, 2015). Music: A. Cyril Barham-Gould.

May the mind of Christ, my Savior,
Live in me from day to day,
By His love and power controlling
All I do and say.

May the call of Christ compel me,
Following Him, my cross to bear;
Trusting in His sure salvation,
In His suff’rings share.

May the Word of God dwell richly
In my heart from hour to hour,
So that all may see I triumph
Only through His power.

May the peace of God, my Father,
Rule my life in everything.
That I may be calm to comfort
Sick and sorrowing.

May the love of Jesus fill me,
As the waters fill the sea;
Him exalting, I exulting
In His victory.

Until That Day Comes

Until That Day Comes
Words & Music: Sean Carter, Brandon Collins, Magen Thurman and Crystal Yates. ©2014 Memory House Music. CCLI Song #7025529

There will come a day when God will be our light
And the dark of night will be sent to its grave
And there will come a time when we will live forever
In a city that will never pass away

PRE-CHORUS:
Oh how my soul yearns and even faints

CHORUS:
But until that day comes
I will go and warn the darkness
That the light of Jesus Christ has overcome
And until that day comes
I will speak to all injustice
That the moment of its ending is sure to come
(Oh the day will surely come)

We who are His church must prepare His coming
And go and tell the nations of His worth
And let us give our lives
To the calling that is on us
To bind up every wound and every hurt

Interlude:
Oh the day will surely come
Oh the day will surely come
Oh the day will surely come

Bridge:
Oh the day will surely come
(All things will be made right
We’ll stand in holy light)
Oh the day will surely come
(A pure and spotless bride
Before the Lord most high)
Oh the day will surely come
(On the dawning of that day
Old things will pass away)
Oh the day will surely come
(Until we see His face let us prepare the way)

It’s True

It’s True
Words & Music by Sara Groves, 2008. ©2008 Sara Groves Music. CCLI Song #5400102

In your heart you hope it’s true
Though you hold no expectation,
In the deepest part of you
There’s an open hesitation

CHORUS:
But it’s true!
Kingdoms and crowns,
The God Who came down to find you,
It’s true!
Angels on high
Sing through the night,
Alleluia!

You’ve heard it told, you think it’s odd,
The whole thing fraught with complication,
The play begins with a baby God,
And all His blessed implications
(CHORUS)

BRIDGE:
Alleluia!
Alleluia!

(CHORUS)

In your heart, you hope it’s true
In the deepest part of you

He Shall Reign

He Shall Reign
Words & Music: Tom Wuest © 2007 Brass Trumpet Publishing. CCLI Lic #1699562

Come broken, come captive,
Come all you who mourn,
Oh groaning creation, rejoice!
Messiah, our Savior,
Our healing He brings,
What freedom, what consolation!

CHORUS:
He shall reign,
He shall reign,
He shall reign,
He shall reign

He’ll order His kingdom
With justice and peace,
O Merciful One, O Lamb of God!
All nations, all people,
All heaven and earth,
Will bow down and to Him proclaim
(Chorus)

Here Is Love

Here Is Love

Words: William Rees & William Williams (1802-1883), tr. from Welsh by William Edwards, 1900. Music: Robert Lowry, 1876

Here is love, vast as the ocean,
Lovingkindness as the flood,
When the Prince of Life, our Ransom,
Shed for us His precious blood.
Who His love will not remember?
Who can cease to sing His praise?
He will never be forgotten,
Throughout Heav’n’s eternal days.

On the mount of crucifixion,
Fountains opened deep and wide;
Through the floodgates of God’s mercy
Flowed a vast and gracious tide.
Grace and love, like mighty rivers,
Poured incessant from above,
Heaven’s peace and perfect justice
Kissed a guilty world in love.

Let me all Thy love accepting,
Love Thee, ever all my days;
Let me seek Thy kingdom only
And my life be to Thy praise;
Thou alone shalt be my glory,
Nothing in the world I see.
Thou hast cleansed and sanctified me,
Thou Thyself hast set me free.

In Thy truth Thou dost direct me
By Thy Spirit through Thy Word;
And Thy grace my need is meeting,
As I trust in Thee, my Lord.
Of Thy fullness Thou art pouring
Thy great love and power on me,
Without measure, full and boundless,
Drawing out my heart to Thee.

Crown Him With Many Crowns (traditional)

Crown Him With Many Crowns
Words: Matthew Bridges, 1852, & Godfrey Thring (v2), 1874. Music: George Elvey, 1868. Public Domain

Crown Him with many crowns,
The Lamb upon His throne.
Hark! how the heavenly anthem drowns
All music but its own.
Awake, my soul, and sing
Of Him Who died for thee,
And hail Him as they matchless King
Through all eternity.

Crown Him the Lord of life,
Who triumphed o’er the grave,
And rose victorious in the strife
For those He came to save.
His glories now we sing,
Who died and rose on high,
Who died eternal life to bring,
And lives that death may die.

Crown Him the Lord of love,
Behold His hands and side;
Rich wounds, yet visible above,
In beauty glorified.
No angel in the sky
Can fully bear that sight,
But downward bends his wond’ring eye
At mysteries so bright.

Crown Him the Lord of heav’n,
One with the Father known,
One with the Spirit through Him giv’n
From yonder glorious throne.
To Thee be endless praise,
For Thou for us hast died;
To Thou, O Lord, through endless days
Adored and magnified.

Stand Up My Soul

Stand Up My Soul
©2014 Rough Harbor Music. Words by Isaac Watts. 1707. Music by Cameron Gray, 2014

Stand up, my soul, shake off thy fears,
And gird thy Gospel armor on,
March to the gates of endless joy,
Where thy great Captain-Savior’s gone.
Hell and thy sins resist thy course,
But hell and sin are vanquished foes;
My Jesus nailed them to the cross,
And sung the triumph when He rose.

What though the prince of darkness rage,
To waste the fury of his spite?
Eternal chains confine him down
To fiery deep and endless night.
What though thine inward lusts rebel?
’Tis but a struggling gasp for life;
The weapons of victorious grace
Shall slay thy sin, and end the strife.

CHORUS:
Stand up, my soul, shake off thy fears,
And gird thy Gospel armor on,
March to the gates of endless joy,
Where thy great Captain-Savior’s gone.

So let my soul march boldly on,
Press forward to the heav’nly gate;
There peace and joy eternal reign,
And glitt’ring robes for conqu’rors wait.
There shall I wear a starry crown,
And triumph in almighty grace,
While all the armies of the sky
Join in my glorious Captain’s praise.
(Chorus)

The strife is o’er, the battle done;
The victory of life is won;
The song of triumph has begun:
Alleluia! Alleluia!

The powers of hell have done their worst;
But Christ their legions hath dispersed;
Let shouts of holy joy outburst:
Alleluia! Alleluia!

CHORUS:
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

The three sad days were quickly sped;
He rose victorious from the dead;
All glory to our risen Head!
Alleluia! Alleluia!

He closed the yawning gates of hell;
The bars from heaven’s high portals fell;
Let hymns of praise His triumphs tell!
Alleluia! Alleluia!

Lord, by the stripes which wounded Thee,
From death’s dread sting Thy servants free,
That we may live, and sing to Thee:
Alleluia! Alleluia!

Lord, by the stripes which wounded Thee,
From death’s dread sting Thy servants free,
That we may live, and sing to Thee:
Alleluia! Alleluia!
